Who you deal with
Sponsored spots are sold by IYGroup Developer Studio, a sole proprietorship based in India, which runs TrueLaunch. These terms add to the Terms of service and the Developer terms. Last updated: 3 November 2026.
What you buy
There are two kinds of sponsored spot, each showing your app labeled “Sponsored” for 1 week or a month (4 weeks): a sidebar card in the side columns of the home page and of the pages people browse (apps, games, categories, developers, guides and news; on narrower screens, one labeled row on those pages), and an inline listing, one row among the apps after the first three in the home page's new apps, on category pages and on app pages (never on the launches board). When several inline listings are sold, they take turns in each list. It is visibility on TrueLaunch only. It does not change your ratings, reviews, organic rank or anything on Google Play or the App Store, and it does not guarantee views, downloads, reviews or store ratings.
You can also bid for a place on the bid board on the home page (see The bid board below). The board is labeled “Sponsored”, because every position on it is paid.
Who can buy
Your account must have a confirmed email. You must be the developer who listed the app, the app must be live on TrueLaunch, and it must have no open reports for spam, fake reviews, rating exchanges, malware or copyright. Admin accounts can't buy spots. The same rules apply to bids.
How buying a spot works
- Each kind has a fixed number of spots and a fixed price for 1 week and for a month (4 weeks), shown in US dollars on the Sponsored spots page and the Promote page before you pay.
- Spots are first come, first served. Nobody can outbid you or move you out of your spot. Your spot starts right after payment if one is free; if the placement is full, it starts at the next opening, and you see that date before paying.
- When several apps are shown in a placement, the one bought earliest is shown first.
- An app holds one spot per placement at a time. Buying the same placement again continues after your current spot ends.
- Your spot ends when the time you paid for is over. Nothing renews automatically; you can buy again whenever you like.
- While you pay, the spot is held for you for about an hour. If the payment doesn't arrive, the hold is released.
The bid board
- The bid board is a list of sponsored apps on the home page, in order of each app's total bid in US dollars. The highest total is #1. When two apps have the same total, the one whose payment was confirmed last is higher.
- The smallest bid is $1. To take a position you pay what brings your app's total level with the app holding it (at least $1), and you see the exact amount before paying. If someone else bids before your payment is confirmed, your app goes wherever its new total puts it.
- Bids are permanent. Every payment adds to your app's total for good: it never expires, resets or renews, and nothing is charged again. Other developers can bid more than you at any time, so your position can go down; your total stays.
- The board shows each app and its total bid publicly. It never shows who paid, when, or anything about your account.
- Bids start your place as soon as the payment is confirmed, so they are final: the 24-hour cancellation for spots doesn't apply. We still refund duplicate or unauthorised payments and our own mistakes, as the Refund policy explains.
- If a moderator hides your app, it leaves the board and its bids aren't refunded; if the app is restored, it comes back with its total. If another person proves they own an app you listed, the listing and its total bid move to them, without a refund to you.
Paying
You pay by card for each spot or bid through our payment partner Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment, sales tax and invoices. Dodo Payments adds any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you are and sends you the receipt or invoice. Your spot is confirmed once the payment is confirmed. If a payment arrives after its hold was released and the spot has gone to someone else, your spot moves to the next opening of the same length, so you still get all the time you paid for.
Refunds
- You can cancel a spot for a refund within 24 hours of paying, from the Promote page. You get back what you paid less 5%, which covers the payment processor's fee that isn't returned to us. The spot is freed at once.
- After 24 hours, payments are final, including for spots that haven't started yet.
- If a spot isn't shown because of our error, or we hide an app and later restore it without finding a breach, we refund or make up the time lost. The full rules are in the Refund policy.
Removal
If a moderator hides your app for breaking the guidelines, its running and upcoming spots end straight away and what was paid for them isn't refunded. If another person proves they own an app you listed, the listing moves to them and your spots for it end without a refund.
